The Microsoft-developed Windows operating system will display an animation when you close or minimize a window, when you open menus, when you access the Start menu, and when you move windows. WindowFX allows you to customize this experience; it provides numerous animated effects and allows you to pick and choose which will be displayed. You can, for example, set it so that when you minimize a window, a burn away animated effect is used instead of the default Windows animation.

The system requirements for running WindowFX are: 1GHz processor or better, 50MB available system memory or more, 100MB free disk space, Windows operating system (Windows 7, 8, or 8.1).
To get the application up and running you will have to download and run an installer; then you will have to follow the instructions presented by a simple setup wizard.

WindowFX has a dark-themed and easy to navigate interface. At the top you will see the following buttons:
Home – enable WindowFX, see the WindowFX version you’re using, enable/disable the system tray icon, enable/disable the option to automatically check for updates.
Animation – choose which animations will be used and when they will be used. You can save your configuration as a preset.
Window management – enable screen edge window resizing, enable double click window resizing, minimize windows by middle clicking the title bar.
Right click menu – additional options can show up in the right click context menu; choose whatever option you want from here.
Inactive windows – set it so inactive windows will fade away, will stand out, will be minimized automatically.
Movement – enable window flicks, window momentum dragging, fade windows to semi transparent when moving and resizing them.
Desktop icons – toggle desktop icons visibility on a double click, automatically hide desktop icons unless the desktop has focus, hide text label from desktop icons, hide icon shortcut overlays.

The straightforward and good looking interface makes it very easy to navigate and access the application’s functionality. Say you want to use a cool burning effect when you minimize windows. Click on the Animations button, select Window, select Minimize, and then select the Burn Away effect. That’s all you have to do. And once you do it, windows will appear to go up in smoke when you minimize them.

WindowFX is free to use for a trial period of 30 days.

Enhance and customize your Windows usage experience with WindowFX. The cool animations are sure to put a smile on your face.

Pros

The system requirements for running WindowFX are quite low; a simple setup wizard will guide you through the installation process. The dark-themed interface is good looking and very easy to use. There are numerous animations to choose from. There’s some handy extra functionality: window management, right click menu, and so on.

Cons

Free to use for a trial period of 30 days.
